The Best of Amsterdam: Featuring Cottoncake

If you are wondering where to grab breakfast or lunch in Amsterdam, look no further than Cottoncake in Amsterdam's Latin Quarter, known as the De Pijp neighborhood. The area boasts of colorful cuisines, pretty terraces, and bustling cafes. From the manicured Sarphatipark to Albert Cuypmarkt, De Pijp carries with it a bohemian vibe and, unsurprisingly, has been a popular rendezvous for creative types since the 60s.

And Cottoncake is no exception with its unconventional approach to shopping and food. What looks like a storefront at first glance also houses a small loft where you can order breakfast and lunch and the best vegan hot chocolate you've ever had. Promise. Only, ask for the one that is not on the menu with coconut soy milk and 70 percent dark chocolate.

It's limited menu is heaven for those who are gluten free, vegetarian, vegan or, honestly, none of these things. You will not believe the salty peanut butter cake is gluten free, raw, vegan, AND sugar free. It's swoon-worthy.

Tyler, who enjoys bread, meat, and normal desserts with normal sugar could not get enough of this place, and he was the one that talked me into coming back for round two (not that I needed all that much convincing).

What's more, we were lucky enough to meet the genius behind the salty peanut butter cake and learned that Cottoncake is releasing a cookbook soon, which both Tyler and I can't wait to get our hands on.

As far as shopping goes, the store is stocked with dainty jewelry, lacy bralettes, a well-curated selection of clothing, and their own line of perfumes and candles (which are divine, by the way).
