Current Skincare Routine: Travel Friendly Edition

As I mentioned on my Instagram a while back, I want to start gravitating toward sustainable, natural, cruelty-free, organic skincare and makeup products. I am not currently there yet as I want to use up what I already have first. In the meantime, I thought I'd show you what I have been using, because my current skincare routine is pretty minimal and travel friendly.

For the most part, I've had a pretty simple skincare routine. Most often, my skincare routine consists of a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen (and most often I'm just using CeraVe's line, because my skin can be a real problem child in terms of sensitivity and dryness) and the occasional DIY facial mask.

But I've noticed that when I'm traveling and more stressed out and, in general, spending more time in the city, I like to give my skin a little extra TLC. I also like to take a bit of extra time at night to tend to my skin because it gives me a chance to wind down for the evening. A nighttime skincare regimen always helps me to slow down, and I enjoy having that time to myself.

However, a balanced diet and drinking lots of water are also ways in which I take care of my skin and really are just as important (more to come on this later).

I use Origin's A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser morning and night. I've been really enjoying this cleanser as opposed to my usual CeraVe one, because this one actually removes my makeup and overall this cleanser is a bit more brightening and rejuvenating.

Biologique Recherche's Lotion P50W is really at the core of my routine as I'm positive it does the majority of the work. I especially like it because it eliminates the need to have so many products in your routine, and I use this morning and night after cleansing my face. If you want to read more about my experience with this product, I wrote a post specifically about that which you can read here.

Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate coupled with the Lotion P50W at night has almost entirely eliminated the scars on my chin from the breakouts I was having. I don't think this product is all that necessary if it wasn't for the scaring though, so I probably wouldn't go to repurchase it unless I had another round of breakouts. Given how effective Lotion P50W is at keeping the breakouts at bay, I feel that I won't be needing a product like this for a while. However, I do want to mention my undying love for Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil which I can't wait to be reunited with once I get back to the states (I did not bring that product with me and have some left over).

I've included Kiehl's Centella Recovery Skin-Salve in this post because I will soon be switching over to this as my full time moisturizer for the warmer, milder weather in order to use it up. Even though this is considered a salve, I find this moisturizer quite light in comparison to their balm which I love in the winter and wear both morning and night. This is a great calming, soothing product on the skin.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm was honestly life saving this winter in terms of my skin's dryness. I loved lathering this stuff on at night (it functions nicely as a moisturizer and as a moisturizing overnight mask) and underneath my makeup during the day as a sort of barrier from the elements.

As I finish up these products and start experimenting with more sustainable, natural options, I will continue to update you all!
