25 things i've learned in 25 years

1) We are allowed to change our minds.

2) Negative thoughts are powerful. But so are positive ones.

3) The way we treat our bodies is often a metaphor for how we treat ourselves.

4) I can't really be an us before I'm an I.

5) Identity is fluid and, if I'm lucky, it will take a lifetime to figure myself out.

6) Remain skeptical but never become the cynic.

7) Pride gets in the way of all that is good about us.

8) Writing will always be difficult for me. But it will always be necessary. Like forgiveness.

9) The world rarely lacks toughness when it so often needs tenderness.

10) I will never be able to fully understand what someone else is going through or has been through, but I should try to, first and foremost, before I start to speak: it is better to try and understand than to be right.

11) If you find something or someone who makes you feel rich, inspired, awake, purposeful, possible--go after it or them.

12) Let go of the things that no longer serve you.

13) Having faith in the existence of Truth is grounding.

14) I don't have to be happy all the time.

15) It really is okay to cry.

16) Our fears often manifest themselves during the anticipation of something and rarely during the thing we fear itself.

17) Fear should not determine what I can and can't do.

18) If I ever have kids, I want to show them how the world could be not just how it is.

19) Real change is not the result of one person's efforts. Real change happens over time with a great many contributors.

20) Patience.

21) Alright, slow down.

22) Never stop asking questions.

23) I'm not in this alone.

24) Love neither needs to be exciting or driving one crazy all of the time to be love. Sometimes love is boring.

25) No failure is pointless.
